Evelyn's Courtyard is located between McPherson Theater and Owens Auditorium
This outdoor area adjoins to both Owens Auditorium and the McPherson Theater to provide an open courtyard for hosting pre- and post-event receptions under the sun and stars. The courtyard features a small outdoor stage as a focal point for announcements or as a place to create immersive experiences with live performances.

Long-time friends of the College, Jon and Jackie Giles, recognized the impact of the “First Lady of SCC” during the 30+ years of Dr. John Dempsey’s service with restoration of the Owens Courtyard to provide a venue for public engagement.
Dedicated by Jon and Jackie Giles, Evelyn’s Courtyard is dedicated to President Dempsey’s wife, Evelyn Condon Dempsey: a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a gifted artist. She proved to be a pillar of support to Sandhills Community College for over 30 years.
